Ron Arad was born in Tel Aviv in 1951. He studied at the Jerusalem Academy of Art (1971-73) and at the Architectural Association in London (1974-79). In 1989, he founded Ron Arad Associates with Caroline Thorman. He taught Design at the Hochschule in Vienna from 1994 to 1997 and has been Professor of Furniture Design at the Royal College of Art in London since 1997. He also teaches Product Design at the Royal College of Art. His works have been hosted by important museums and art galleries around the world and are also part of the permanent collections of the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, the MoMA in New York, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and the Vitra Design Museum in Germany. Ron Arad designs for such important international firms as: Kartell, Vitra, Moroso, Fiam, Driade, Alessi, Flos. Among his architectural designs, we can remember: the Maserati exhibition hall, Italy; the Selfridges technology hall in London; the foyer of the Tel Aviv Opera House, Israel.
