Andy Warhol ’s explosive Pop Art and its sharp commentaries on advertising and celebrity culture remain celebrated and deeply relevant even decades after its creation. Though Warhol himself could be a polarizing figure both personally and professionally, there is no doubt that he was a pioneer of the Pop movement, and today, as a result, his works regularly fetch astronomical prices. In this evocative addition to Assouline ’s Ultimate Collection , Warhol expert and former director of the Andy Warhol Museum , Eric Shiner, curates the 100 unique and quintessential works that define the evolution of this illustrious artist, tracing Warhol ’s dynamic career from the late 1940s to the late 1980s and creating a stunning compendium whose pieces, because of their rarity, value, and prestige as part of a museum or other collection, could simply never all be acquired by a single collector. Casual art lovers know Campbell's soup cans and the Marilyn diptych, but Andy Warhol: The Impossible Collection goes further, revealing and revisiting some less ubiquitous but equally powerful pieces—spanning paintings, prints, sculptures, films, and photographs—of Warhol 's astonishing oeuvre.

About the brand

Assouline, where culture meets luxury It all began in 1993, when Martine and Prosper Assouline found themselves at the La Colombe d'Or hotel in France, one of their most beloved places in the world. As they experienced its beauty together, their curiosity about life and love of books inspired them to make their own tome about the hotel. Prosper took the photos, Martine wrote the text, and La Colombe D'Or became their first book, published in 1994. Today, every Assouline book continues to be created with the same union of talent and passion: Martine's editorial direction and Prosper's creative vision.
