Yves Saint-Laurent: The Impossible Collection

SHIPMENTS TO ALL COLOMBIA.
After getting his big break as an assistant to French haute couture titan Christian Dior , Yves Saint Laurent struck out on his own, transforming haute couture for a new era of young, strong, independent women. His designs changed the course of fashion, introducing the concept of designer ready-to-wear to a wider clientele. Ahead of his time, he created feminine versions of masculine styles such as the striped pantsuit, the khaki Saharienne safari jacket and the Le Smoking tuxedo, and introduced outrageous ideas such as sheer blouses and the daring Opium perfume, whose exciting name and early advertisements were greeted with shock. He was also one of the first couturiers to design for fast fashion: in 1996 he created a tuxedo for the French chain La Redoute.
Yves Saint Laurent: The Impossible Collection , the latest addition to Assouline’s exclusive collection of handcrafted volumes, highlights all the classics: the Mondrian dress; the black dress with white collar and cuffs for the film Belle de Jour; the legendary Ballets Russes collection; the homages to Picasso, Matisse and Van Gogh; the fitted pantsuits and airy “coup de crayon” draped dresses; the lavish use of velvet, lace, feathers, leopard print and shimmering jewel tones.
Complimentary white gloves and a signature canvas bag are included with every purchase of Assouline's Ultimate Collection.
