About the designer

Ron Arad

Ron Arad.
Born in Tel Aviv, he studied at the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem from 1971 to 1973 and at the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London from 1974 to 1979. Ron Arad’s career as a designer began with the Rover Chair, a leather seat from a Rover V8 2L car anchored to a tubular steel frame. In 1981 he co-founded the design and production studio One Off. His subsequent tireless experimentation with the possibilities of materials and technology, and his radical re-envisioning of the form and structure of objects, have placed him at the forefront of contemporary design and architecture. Ron Arad has designed for leading international furniture and design brands including Vitra, Kartell, Moroso, Alessi and Swarovski, among others.
