More information

To celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the Joe armchair designed by DDL Studio, the Centro Studi Poltronova has created four special editions for a must-have item that has never left the catalogue. Joe Plush, entirely covered in high-quality faux fur, aims to become an interior decoration toy, very soft and enveloping, and is dedicated to all those who have a dreamer's soul.

About the designer

De Pas, D'Urbino, Lomazzi

The De Pas, D'Urbino, Lomazzi studio was founded in 1966. The architect De Pas died in 1991. In the 1960s and 1970s, the studio focused particularly on the creation of temporary furniture and architecture, using signs, materials and advanced industrial technologies, for example pneumatic structures for the Milan Triennale, and participated, with works and installations, in numerous exhibitions in this field.

From the 1970s and 1980s, the studio designed industrial and residential buildings, receiving numerous awards and recognitions. The works of all three architects are included in the design collections of several museums, including: MoMA and the Brooklyn Museum in New York, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Kunstgewerbemuseum in Berlin and Zurich, the Pompidou Centre in Paris, and the Triennale Design Museum in Milan.

The design work is accompanied by theoretical and cultural work: teaching at the Polytechnic University of Milan from 1999 to 2008 and at the IUAV University of Venice since 2005. The studio's archives, declared of special historical interest by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities, were donated in 2010 to the Centro di Alti Studi sulle Arti Visive of the Municipality of Milan. Il gioco e la regola was the title of the monographic exhibition that the Milan Triennale dedicated to the studio in 2012.

About the brand

"Poltronova is the radical factory. Poltronova is a historic moment, which is still alive and where many of us still feel at home. Where the glorious and long history of Italian design began among frogs and reeds, before reaching the altars of honour..."

Andrea Branzi Archizoom Associati.
